West Ham United plot bold move for Lewandowski's conqueror

The impending switch to the Olympic Stadium, along with their impressive league form, has suddenly made West Ham an attractive proposition for some genuine European heavyweights.

Bayer Leverkusen's Stefan Kiessling is certainly one of those, having finished as the leading scorer in the Bundesliga back in 2012/13, and the striker is thought to interest the Hammers.

STEFAN KIESSLING

It was reported by the Daily Telegraph that the club had submitted a £10m bid for the forward just over three years ago, but they are far more likely to get their man this time around.

The incredible form of summer-signing Javier Hernandez has significantly reduced the 32-year-old's playing time, so he is looking for an opportunity to show what he can do:

That was best demonstrated during the 2012/13 campaign, when Kiessling found the net once every 121 minutes as he pipped Robert Lewandowski to the top scorer's crown.

Although the tall German international has not been quite so prolific since then, he has still managed a respectable return of 24 goals from 66 Bundesliga matches over the course of the last two full seasons

How about Thauvin at £12m & then having to send him back to Marseille on loan after half a season because he is rubbish?

I think Shelvey at £12m is a decent price - he's still only 23 and is pretty much guaranteed an asset at prem level. Saivet at £4m is a snip.

RH. Haven't seen what's been said about him, but I wouldn't be surprised,

So Basically , once again Jinxed is just repeating what has been said about Jelavic numerous times over the last week or so

Re: The Jan 2016 official Transfer Rumour Thread
Shelvey is over priced though Alex v. You have criticised wes ham for over paying and said before you just can't go and buy a team but you seem to be praising Newcastle for doing exactly that.

Well run club. Shelvey, Cabella, De Jong. Ho ho. I expect McLaren is a great manager too.

Fucking oddball.

Berahino would just be overpriced icing on a carrot and dogshit cake.

In terms of January signings I think they've done well. Shelvey and Saivet are players I'd love us to have brought in.

The signings I got excited about 18 months ago were Cabella and De Jong. De Jong has had terrible injuries since he signed, and Cabella funnily enough is now Payet's replacement at Marseille. Goes to show you can buy good players, but getting the best out of them is not guaranteed.

Really hope Newcastle don't sign Berahino, would love to try and sign him in the summer in front of Spurs and curl out a massive turd on their salt beef bagels.
Hate to say it but if Levy hadn't been so disrespectful to WBA and properly stumped up money for him at the start of the season I think they might have been up top by now.

You depressed by their latest transfer business, Alex?

Alex V 5:58 Sun Jan 31
Re: The Jan 2016 official Transfer Rumour Thread
I still think they're a fairly well-run club who get a load of criticism for problems I would put down to basic variance.

Alex V 5:57 Sun Jan 31
Re: The Jan 2016 official Transfer Rumour Thread
Or they were well under the limit before. Or they're over the limit but still have time to remedy it?

Re: The Jan 2016 official Transfer Rumour Thread
I wouldn't worry about Newcastle. The other year, Alex V said their transfer business was 'DEPRESSINGLY GOOD', and they came within a fag paper of being relegated.

Re: The Jan 2016 official Transfer Rumour Thread
But how can you spend near on £100 MILLION and not go over the maximum £4m a year wage cap. It's either more lenient than we're lead to believe, or Newcastle are willing to get a fine just to ensure that they get a chunk of that TV deal next season.

Re: The Jan 2016 official Transfer Rumour Thread
FFP isn't based on transfer spend. I think over the last 3 years our spend is still higher than Newcastle's.

Gavros 4:54 Sun Jan 31
Re: The Jan 2016 official Transfer Rumour Thread
Hopefully they'll get done under FFP and get relegated at the same time.

Re: The Jan 2016 official Transfer Rumour Thread
Newcastle have now bid £21m for berahino if that goes through £43m this window or nearly £100m this season. It's a crazy amount of money FFP anyone?
